Long distance relation sucks

I had been in two long distance relations, both of which didn't work at all. The idea of being in love is lovely only in initial stages. And actually its stupid, there is no thing called a long distance relation, its just an illusion of love. Even when I made the mistake for the first time, I again fell for the second time.

I have seen a couple of long distance relation in my friends which seem to be worked (at least when you see as an outside person). But actually there are a lot of problems. It actually doesn't make any sense. Its bullshit..

A friend of mine was in love with a girl, then the friend went to US for his post grad, then after 4 years I guess, they are getting married. I really appreciate that couple, it really takes a huge amount of patience, to make the relation work. And I mean it, as I have had the experience.

I really have decided that I will never fall for this kind of relation again, it just frustrate you in the life.

Xcode 5 third party libs, frameworks Linker Error

Hi There,

I am currently working on a project which was developed by someone else.
When I cloned the project for the first time, I was getting linker errors for the third party libs, frameworks like FacebookSDK.framework, flurry etc.
Thought I could see these libs were there in the project navigator and also in the Finder, I really couldn't understand why it was showing the linker errors.
I did few things like Cleaning the project, restarting Xcode, restarting even the mac, which didn't at all work.
Finally found the solution, which I really couldn't thought about and I should have thought about.
Just remove the libs and then re-add them again. (Face-palm).
I know, this should be the obvious first try. Anyway.

Happy Coding.

Making Vodafone K3800 dongle on Mac OSx Mavericks

Hey,
I just updated the MacBook Pro to OSx Mavericks.
i use Vodafone K3800 stick.
Before the update the dongle was working fine, but after the update of course, it stopped working.
I thought I need to update the Vodafone Mobile Broadband (VMB) software, then it should work.
But unfortunately, it was not that straight forward.
I went to Vodafone support web site and downloaded and installed all the possible versions of VMB from 4.0.7 to 4.0.9. (of course restarted the mac many times).
I was assuming, installing one of these should do. But nothing worked.

But after trial and error, got a way to make it work.

1. Install VMB 4.0.9.17, which is supposed to be the latest version.
2. Install Vodafone K3800 software, which is there in the stick itself.
That's it.
Then the Vodafone K3800 stick will work properly.

Both the softwares need to be installed. Only one of them will never work.

Happy Surfing.

In UITextView subclass for iOS 7, UITextView contentSize.Height returns wrong value

Hello,

When the UITextView is subclassed, contentSize.height works very well in iOS 6 downwards, but in iOS 7 it fails and returns the value which is far less than the actual value.

Here is the fix.

Replace the float height=textView.contentSize.height by

float height=[self measureHeight];

-(void) measureHeight
{
#if __IPHONE_OS_VERSION_MAX_ALLOWED >= 70000
    if ([self respondsToSelector:@selector(snapshotViewAfterScreenUpdates:)])
    {
        CGRect frame = internalTextView.bounds;
        CGSize fudgeFactor;
        // The padding added around the text on iOS6 and iOS7 is different.
        fudgeFactor = CGSizeMake(10.0, 16.0);

        frame.size.height -= fudgeFactor.height;
        frame.size.width -= fudgeFactor.width;

        NSMutableAttributedString* textToMeasure;
        if(internalTextView.attributedText && internalTextView.attributedText.length > 0){
            textToMeasure = [[NSMutableAttributedString alloc] initWithAttributedString:internalTextView.attributedText];
        }
        else{
            textToMeasure = [[NSMutableAttributedString alloc] initWithString:internalTextView.text];
            [textToMeasure addAttribute:NSFontAttributeName value:internalTextView.font range:NSMakeRange(0, textToMeasure.length)];
        }

        if ([textToMeasure.string hasSuffix:@"\n"])
        {
            [textToMeasure appendAttributedString:[[NSAttributedString alloc] initWithString:@"-" attributes:@{NSFontAttributeName: internalTextView.font}]];
        }

        // NSAttributedString class method: boundingRectWithSize:options:context is
        // available only on ios7.0 sdk.
        CGRect size = [textToMeasure boundingRectWithSize:CGSizeMake(CGRectGetWidth(frame), MAXFLOAT)
                                                  options:NSStringDrawingUsesLineFragmentOrigin
                                                  context:nil];

        return CGRectGetHeight(size) + fudgeFactor.height;
    }
    else
    {
        return self.internalTextView.contentSize.height;
    }
#else
    return self.internalTextView.contentSize.height;
#endif

}

This should work.

Sportsmanship.. Bullshit..Sydney Test 2008 Ind Vs Aus

After 5 years also, my anger has not subsidized.
It is sad that the Boxing day test played between India and Aus in 2007 will not remembered for the cricketing context, but for controversies, umpiring errors.
After winning the boxing day test of 2007, Australia was all set for the 16th successive win in a row, matching their own record.
Though Aus won this test by 122 runs and a min to spare, this test will be remembered for major umpiring mistakes by umpires Steve Bucknor and Mark Benson and the show of poor sportsmanship by Aus.
The fantastic contest between bat and ball is overshadowed by anything to win attitude of Australia and very low umpiring standards.
The first incident of poor umpiring struck India when Ricky Ponting was given not out by umpire Mark Benson, when he clearly nicked the ball down the leg side. Ponting himself knew that he was out. Later on he scored half century. However later, Ponting dismissed by Harbhajan for the seventh time in his career.
When Ponting got out, Aus's score was 3/119. Micheal Clarke and Adam Gilchrist soon got out leaving Aus on a score of 6/135. India cleared had an upper hand at that stage of the match.
But again, a mistake by Mr. Steve Bucknor changed the course of the match. At that stage Andrew Symond was the only recognized batsman for Aus. In an over, when Ishant Shrama was bowling, he clearly nicked a ball to wicketkeeper MS Dhoni. The decision turned down by the umpire. This shifted the pendulum to Aus side, because Symonds made 162 and remained not out.
The umpiring errors were continuously flowing for the entire match.
eg In the second Aus inning Micheal Hussey was given not out when he was on 22 and 45, off Anil Kumble and R.P. Singh resp.
Later on Hussey went on to score 145, which shifted the course of the match to Aus side.

In the second Inning, Rahul Dravid was given out caught behind, when his bat was clearing hiding behinds the pads. This incident shocked Rahul, but not the umpires.
Saurav also given out caught behind, when the replays also were inconclusive. So umpire Benson asked Ricky Ponting the clarification. I really don't understand, if a player is not honest while batting, then how can you trust his words. Also later, when the same player claims a catch, when the replays clearly show that the ball has grounded. So I think umpires had made some terrible mistakes here.

At the end Aus won the match. But the question is did they deserve it?

The reactions of some of the players.
We start with Mr. Sunil Gavaskar
He words were,
" Why is Mr. Benson asking a person who didn't walk off when he was caught behind at 14, and it couldn't be possible that you are lying when you are batting and true while you are fielding, That is Nonsense! Utter Nonsense! I am sorry Mr. Benson, you got it all wrong."

Tony Greig one of my fav commentator talked about ethics of walking, he said,

"Ponting got an edge down the leg-side and was out (but didn't walk). Then he got a bad decision for an lbw and carried on about it. There are double standards. At the same time Ponting is trying to persuade opposition captains to take his word on catches ... they are all over the place. All I can tell you is the best umpiring I have ever experienced and the best relationships between umpires and players was in England in county cricket where we had former first-class players like Mark Benson umpiring. You were considered to be a cheat if you didn't walk"

After this test both the captains met to ensure proper behavior from both the team (ie bullshit spirit of the game). India won the next test and succeeded to draw the last one. But Sydney test was pivotal in the context of the series.

SVN Commands

For those who like to use svn from command line, these are the useful commands to remember.
As you use them regularly, you don't need to see this post again.. :D

1) Checkout a project:
    svn checkout url

2) Update and revert:
    -To update local files in a repository:
      svn update filename1, filename2,.
    -To update the entire repository
      svn update

3) revert to the previous version
    svn revert filename1, filename1, ...

4)Difference
   cd folder_name
   diff filename

5)How to commit files:

- Perform an svn diff to check the changes you made-  svn diff
- Then update the file- svn update . There might be conflicts. Then again perform svn diff to check   the conflicts.

-This diff now shows up the differences between your current file and what's there now in the repository.
-Check that only the new code you have added is the sum total of the differences.
svn commit -m "Commit message"

svn diff filename1, filename2, ... , filenamen
svn update
filename1, filename2, ... , filenamen
svn diff
filename1, filename2, ... , filenamen
svn commit
filename1, filename2, ... , filenamen

6)Adding a  new file to the repository:

    svn add filename
    svn commit -m "Commiting the new file that is added" filename

7)Deleting a file from the repository
   svn remove -m "Deleting the file which is not required" filename

8)Conflicts and resolving them
-If, when doing an "svn status" of a folder you find any files marked with a C, then it means such    files are in conflict with their corresponding versions in the svn repository.

-Doing an "svn update" may indicate files are in conflict as well. If you performed an "svn update" on some files (or on a folder) and one or more came up with the status C then you have a conflict. It means that changes to the same file on the same lines had been committed to the svn repository as what you have been working on. The update could not successfully merge the corresponding lines as it didn't know which lines to keep and which to overwrite: the lines are in conflict.

-If you ever encounter a file in conflict and you view it in an editor, you will see that conflicted lines will be marked with ===== and >>>>>. Both the changes you made and the conflicting changes in the repository will be embedded inside such special marks.
(If you had done an "svn update" on files that turned out to conflict, the action would have created a couple of additional versions of the file: conflict-filename.mine and conflict-filename.. The first is your local version containing the changes you made. The second is the file as it is in the svn repository.)

To resolve conflicts in a file marked with a C
1.    Open up the file that's in conflict in an editor.
2.    Search for all occurrences of >>>> or ===. Each occurrence marks a conflicted section and needs to be resolved.
3.    Deal with marked sections as appropriate: decide which parts you want to keep, which should be removed or how to combine (the best of) both.
4.    Once you've finished editing out the conflicts in the file, you have to set the file's status to resolved for it to be up to date (and updateable with svn):

5.    svn resolved

9)To check the log
    svn log

10) SVN import
If you want to put this project folder into the repository, inside http://svn.abc/other-projects/trunk/ then you would type the following in your x-term:

cd my_program
svn import -m "my message" . http://svn.abc.org/other-projects/trunk/my_program

11) Blame
To get the info about which user has committed the code line by line for a particular file

svn blame filename

Happy coding,

Kaustubh

Comparing Apples and Mangoes

On 5th OCt 2011 the Co-Founder and CEO of Apple Inc. died becasue of Pancreatic cancer.
After a few days, on Oct 12, 2011 the creator of C programming language and Co-inventor of Unix operating system died at the age of 70.
     People say Steve Jobs's death tops the news agenda and when Dennis Richtie died, nobody except only a few geeks notices. But that doesn't mean that Sir Dennis Ritchie has not done anything or he was not as great as Steve Jobs. So this speculation is completely ridiculous.
As a cricket fan I will see this comparison as comparing Sachin Tendulkar to Anil Kumble, which is totally rubbish. Dennis Ritchie was great, there is no doubt about that. He invented C language, unix OS, without this no other OS could evolved. But that doesn't mean that Steve Jobs's vision, marketing priciples are meaningless.
The fact that very less people (which is not the actual case though) noticed Dennis Ritchie's death becasue he was not a person who always be in the limelight like Jobs. Sachin is famous in cricketing world becasue in this world the batsmen always take the glory, unlike bowlers. That doesn't mean that Kumble was not a good cricketor.
The only point I want to raise is a person's credibility doesn't depend upon how famous he is in public but depends upon what work he has done. And people do different kinds of work which can't be and should be compared. That's all.

India Demolished

It is India VS Eng, the second test at TrentBridge.
India outplayed in every department of the game, whether it is bowling or batting.
India won the toss and elected to field, which was the right decision on the cloudy day.
Till tea India were right on top of the game with Eng struggling at128/8.
But all of sudden, Indian bowlers started looking ordinary when Broad was hitting the ball everywhere on the ground. So was it that, we took the tail-enders casually? If it was the case then that cost India the match.
You can't afford to take things casually at any point of the game. Because of this mistake England managed to score a healthy total of 221, which was not a bad total for a side which was struggling at 124/8.
From here India never recovered.
In the first inning no one except Rahul Dravid and Yuvarj able to bat long enough.
So the questions arises- what happened to the top order batsmen?  The same top order played well here in 2007. So is it too much of cricket killing their hunger for runs? or is it the huge amount of money got from IPL, made them so casual?
I think, if you want to play any type of game, you need killer spirit. If it is in place then everything goes right.
Also the questions are raised towards Harbhajan's form. For a long time he is not bowling well. Is it that we don't have a choice other than him. There are good spinners like Amit Mishra, Pragyan Oza waiting there for a chance. And the one who gets the chance is not making it count.
Praveen Kumar is the only bowler I saw till now who is consistent. Ishant also bowled well but he is not able to deliver good spells consistently. Shreeshant looked impressive. But in the second Inning they all looked ordinary. So England managed to score 544 runs with centurion Ian Bell, Bresnan, Kevin, Morgan and Broad  played their part.
In the same inning there was a possible controversy over Ian Bell's run out. It was clearly out in the laws of the game. But Dhoni decided to withdraw the decision. I don't know about others, but I felt Dhoni's decision was not correct. If you recollect Grant Elliot's run out decision at oval, then where was the spirit of the game.
So with the grand total of 477 to chase, India never looked confident, eventually got all out for 158.
At the end, disappointing match for India. If they loose another match in the series, they will be thrown at the second place in the ICC test ranking.

Royal Enfield Classic 500cc after 1000 kms

Hi All,

In this post I am sharing my experience, problems and positives of the bike.
I got my bike on 5th April of 2011. It took almost 2 months to complete the first 1000 kms.

First of all, the looks of the bike are killer. Everyone turns their head when the bike passes by.
Especially the blue or green whatever color looks awesome.
The reason I opted this color because it comes only with 500cc.
So only just looking at the color anyone can say it is 500cc bull.
Now when it comes to riding comfort, the rider's seat is very much comfortable.
Previously I had an Apache RTR 160cc. So it took some time for me to get adjusted to the sitting position.
Though the actual riding comfort will be evaluated when I ride the bike more than 200 kms on a day.
Till now I have ridden it only 100 kms on a day.
Now after the two week of delivery and 300 kms, all fuses were blown. The horn n electric start stopped working.
So I took it to the service center. I got to know that my starter motor was jammed.
And I have been told that I will get the new motor after a week, which was very disappointing for me.
So the bike was in the garage for a week.
But when the motor got replaced, I have not experienced any problems till now.
I can say that the bike is Mukhan (Smooth like butter).
I got the bike serviced at the time of replacement of the starter motor.
The mileage of bike before the first service was 25-26 kmpl.
But after the first service, I am getting the mileage of at least 30 kmpl.
The Royal Enfield Authorized Service center at Bhandup (Mumbai) really sucks.
They didn't even lubricate my bike properly. The joints, the clutch were making noises which clearly indicated that there is no lubricant. So I have to get the bike lubricated from the Auth Rayal Enfield Serice center at Dombivali (Mumbai).
I will never go and recommend the the bhandup (Mumbai) service center. It really sucks.
Handling is very easy, bike is very stable till 90 kmph.
I haven't crossed 90 kmph mark till now.
So far I am very much satisfied n happy with the bike.
Will share more things later with u guys.
Wear helmets, do not use high beams unless required. Have a safe ride
And last but not the least keep thumping.

The game of words

Cricket is a game of passion. But when it comes to commentary, along with passion, the commentators show their sense of humor.

Cricket commentary is not an easy job it seems.
"Do not speak unless you can add to the picture" was the definition of commentary for Richie Benaud.

Cricket is blessed with many great commentators -Richie Benaud, Geoffrey Boycott, Ian Botham, Tony Greig, Micheal Holding,  Ravi Shastri, Sunil Gavaskar, Navjot Siddhu, and the last but certainly not the least Harsha Bhogle.
Harsha showed the world that cricket commentary is not restricted to the former players. To talk about cricket, you need the passion about the game and not the experience of the game.

So let's start with the amazing one-liners from the great commentators.

At the ICC champions trophy 2000 Ind Vs Aus:Harsha Bhogle
"This inning from Sachin has been like a garden, and the last shot being the most beautiful flower in it.."

After being caught at the slip off Anil Kumble, Clarke was waiting for the decision.
Harsha said, "I think, he is waiting for tomorrow's newspaper to declare him out."

During Pakistan's tour of Eng in 1962, Rex Alston came up with this beauty.
"There is a bowling change and we are going to see "Afaq" at the Nursery end"

Richie Beanud- "The slow motion replay doesn't show how fast the delivery was!!!"

After Anil Kumble scored a maiden ton Vs England, Harsha said,
"This is the most romantic moment in Indian cricket"

Blame game..
Fred Trueman tried to be honest,
"I am not the one to blame anyone, but it was definitely Viv Richard's fault"

When we are talking about commentary how can we forget Siddhuism?
"Wickets are like wives, you never know which way they will turn..."

Once Sunil Gavaskar and Harsha were sharing the commentary box, when Sachin was at the crease,
Sachin hit an awesome straight drive very close to non-striker wickets,
Gavaskar commented, "I have seen only one man hitting straight drive so crisp and brilliant and that man is playing at the moment"
Harsha without wasting a second, "I have seen two, the second is sitting next to me at the moment"

When Sachin once got out to a lollypop offspinner (I guess it was Michael Vaughn) in '02.
He wonderfully said, " Oh what a shame. It was reminiscent of a soldier who survived the war when all the bullets were flying by his nose and then got run over by a bicycle in his native town ."

At Perth, when Gilchrist took a blinder, Harsha said,
"Some of the sea-gulls flying here, are going to get complex"

Once India lost a test series in SA after winning the first match,
Harsha-"India lost the series because they surprise themselves by winning the first match, a win should never be a surprise"

In a match between Aus and SL, Harsha said to Ian Chappel,
"I am sure, you will never become a lawyer, I understand everything you say"

Harsha' comment on Yuvraj's six out of the ground in Durban,
"Are there people working late in the office, we want our ball back"

These are some of the great on-liners, most of them from Harsha Bhogle.

If you also recollect some of the good ones, please put them as comments.

Camping near Malshej Ghat

Malshej ghat is always fascinating destination for me. I have been there 3-4 times.
But this time, we tried something different.Thanks to Sanjay,Kunal, KJ, Lilo and Viraj.
It was Sanjay's idea of camping there. He has been there for camping I guess.
So he invited all of us this time.
We had no prior experience of camping. In this trip also we were not at all prepared in terms of equipments.
In contrast, Sanjay was very well prepared. He had everything that needed, right from the screw-driver to towing rope.
So we started on Sat afternoon towards Malshej ghat. Around the evening we reached the village, Khireswar.

(Our camp site)

This is the base village of Harishchandra Gad. Near the village, there is a well built , beautiful lake called Saptatirtha.
We decided that we will put our tents near the lake.
The air was cool, the place was nice, the tents were placed and we were very excited.
We built a barbecue..and cooked some veg n non-veg food on that.

So after eating, chatting, boozing, we decided to go for some off-roading, in the Scorpios.

But while returning to the camp, Sanjay's Scorpio
got stuck in the mud of the lake.

It was the towing rope, Kunal's Scorpio that came to rescue.
After almost 2-3 hours of hard work, we were able to pull Sanjay's scropio out.
And then it was celebration after that.

Meanwhile, during the car pulling episode, Viraj was very much frustrated. Because he thought we wasted a good time in that. But it was fun for us.
I just remember a funny incident.- Viraj after 2-3 pegs down, while preparing a peg for himself, poured some edible oil into his whiskey. And he drank all of that. We were just laughing like crazy after watching Viraj's expressions.

After that everybody was just singing and dancing till 4 o'clock in the morning I guess.
Overall it was a very very dhamal picnic.

I hope there will be more outings like this in the near future. :)

Btw , u guys can have a look at the pics of this fun at http://www.flickr.com/photos/shoan_kau/sets/72157625969794577/

How to make first call after Asterisk Installation

Hi All,
In this post I m going to show the procedure to make a call after Asterisk Installation.

After the installation, the first thing u have to do is add users in sip.conf
Example:

[shoan]
username=shoan
secret=kaustubh
type=friend
host=dynamic
nat=yes
allow=all
context=sip

[kaustubh]
username=kaustubh  ;The username
secret=shoan             ;Password
type=friend               ;
host=dynamic
nat=yes
allow=all
context=sip

TYPE:
peer: A SIP entity to which Asterisk sends calls (a SIP provider for example). If you want a user (extension) to have multiple phones, define an extension that calls two SIP peers. The peer authenticates at registration.

user: A SIP entity which places calls through Asterisk (A phone which can place calls only). Users authenticate to reach services with their context.

friend: An entity which is both a user and a peer. This make sense for most desk handsets and other devices. Asterisk will create two objects, one peer and one user, with the same name.

The username can be anything a string, a number a combination od strings and number.
Now the users are added. Let's modify the dialplan.
To allow the users to call each other we have to make changes in extensions.conf.
Extensions.conf contains the dialplan.

The Voip Info defines dialplan as follows:

"A dial plan consists of a number of extensions. Each extensions consists of a number of priorities. Extensions are grouped in contexts. For each priority, an application is called."

In short, the dialplan contains the business logic-what to do with the calls.

Now in extensions.conf add a context called sip.
[sip]
exten => shoan,1,Dial(sip/shoan)
exten =>kaustubh,1,Dial(sip/kaustubh)

The above statements state that if a call comes for shoan or kaustubh, Dial shoan or kaustubh resp.

Now start the asterisk command Line interface ie CLI.
sudo /usr/sbin/asterisk -r

And now in CLI type following two commands

1.sip reload- it reloads the sip.conf
2. dialplan reload - it reloads the dialplan

Now u can make calls from kaustubh to shoan and vice-versa.

Royal Enfiled Classic 500cc

On 14 Dec a boy booked a Royal Enfield Classic 500 cc.
Everyone was opposing him, including his parents. But he didn't change his decision.
There were two options for him at that time.
1. Royal Enfiled Classic 500
2. Honda CBR 250R
People suggested him to go for Honda for quality and all.
But he wanted to go for bullet. People said that Honda CBR 250R suits his personality.
But he didn't listen to anyone as always.
Yeah, he knew that there are going to be lots of problems with bullet classic, because he read a lot of articles stating many problems about bullet classic 500cc.

and this- Team BHP

Lets see.. But he is ready to face the problems.
He will decide whether to go for Bullet classic 500 or Honda when the delivery date will be informed to him.
He always has an option to cancel the bullet and look for any other bike.
Lets see...What the Asami gets..

Trek To Ratangad

Wooow... Almost after 5-6 months, We went for Trekking on bike.
Abhi, Nilesh and me are bike crazy people. This time we got a new jointy Niranjan for the biking adventure.
We have Pulser 200, Honda Unicorn, Apache 160, and Yamaha Fazer respectively.
So on 1st Jan 2010, at 1400 hrs we started our journey to Ratangad.
First we went to Bhandardara through Mumbai Nasik Highway. The highway is really smooth and awesome. The kasara ghat is really beautiful.
At 2300 hrs we reached the base village Ratanwadi.
It was too cold, because Bhandardara Dam was nearby. We inquired in the village about the safety of night trekking to the fort.
People were saying the it is not safe to march to the fort at night because of multiple routes.
But we decided to go. We were short of equipments as always. We had only a torch.
But somehow we managed to reach the top at 0230.
There were three steel ladders in the route. But the route was exciting.
At the top, it was really too cold to bear. It was child, windy..
The caves were full of trekkers, so we had to sleep outside the caves.
In the morning, the cold atmosphere was manageable.

Main points on the fort were
1.'Nedhe' or 'Eye of the Needle'.-natural rock peak with a cavity in it at the top
2.Tryambak Darwaza - The main entrance to Ratangad fort

After exploring the fort for 2-3 hrs , we went down to the base village for the lunch.

Not only it was an exciting trek, but the bike ride was also superb.

Aus Vs Pak 2nd test Day 1 review

Today, Pak shown what they are capable of.
Ponting made a wrong decision at the toss to bat first. He knew there is grass on pitch, it is a live pitch. But full credit goes to Pakistani bowlers. They bowled well. Especially M'hd Asif and Sami, the duo looks good. Sometimes the referral systems stole their credit. But still they stand tall. It looked good when M'hd Yusuf supports the bowlers, by chatting with them in between the balls and overs. It always feels good when your captain is backing you up and showing confidence on you. And Sami and Asif got their rewards, 3 and 6 wickets each.
After the first test, Watson made a statement that he feels Asif is bowling same like he(Asif) bowled at his (Asif's) debut. But Asif gave the answer with the ball. He bowled superbly.
Ausies were really struggling against him. Sami also came back in the team well by peaking up wickets. His initial break through was crucial. Both Asif and Sami took 2 wickets in 2 balls.
Sami was little bit unlucky for not getting hat-trick. I thought that was a very close call.
In terms of Aus's batting performance, I thought there was nothing much wrong with it. The inclusion of Philip Hugues as an opener, made their batting line-up vulnerable. He never looked confident. Watson, the inform batsman also failed. But in the difficult situations, captain should always guide his ship. But with the elbow injury and low confidence Ponting didn't make the mark. Hussey was looking good, but returned to the pavilion because of a miss-timed pull shot.
The key performer in Aus batting line-up today was Johnson. He played a class of innings. Especially Danish Kaneria's over, in which he made 20 odd runs. He was pulling good, smashing the ball through extra covers, covers. But he was out of partners. He was the only batsman who played aggressively and positively. And finally Aus were bowled out for just 127 runs in 44.2 overs, their 3rd total under 160 since The Oval in August. .
When Pak came to bat, Bollinger and Siddle bowled well, but Pak batsmen survived.
I think Ponting should have given ball to Johnson. He was in rhythm in last test.
Anyway, lets see what happens on the second day.
